BREAKING NEWS - JUNE 27, 2008

Congratulations to the LCBMRDD Transportation Services department for continuing its record of excellence by passing the Ohio Highway Patrol annual inspection this morning.

All nine yellow buses passed with flying colors, according to Transportation Director Donna Flack.

"We passed at 100 percent," she said. "Everyone's relieved that it's over...but we kind of knew (it would go well)."

Each bus received a certified decal for 2008-2009, and rightly so -- staff members spent the better part of yesterday sweeping and polishing to make each bus sparkle. While many scrubbed and scoured, Dave Acheson and Ken Johnson made a few last-minute adjustments to be sure each  bus was mechanically sound, safe and ready for the inspection.

Their hard work didn't go unnoticed yesterday. In fact, a Cintas delivery driver who was doing regular business at the garage commented about how great the buses looked.

"Those are the cleanest school buses in Licking County!" he exclaimed.

While some buses have been in the fleet for many years, one inspector said today he was impressed by their condition.

"Some of these buses are old, but they (the Transportation Services staff) take really good care of them," said OHP Inspector Steven Beamer. "They're in great shape."

The Transportation Services department staff should be commended for their hard work getting ready for today's big inspection, but more importantly, for their dedication all year. Congratulations!
